Episode 90: Kill Bill, Vols. 1 & 2 (2003 & 2004)

On this week’s podcast, the guy’s break down both of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films, tackling the Whole Bloody Affair from 2003 and 2004. They talk about what it was like to see these films when they first came out and the influence they had on their movie-loving young lives, as well as which of the two films they prefer and why. These are unquestionably weird and glorious films, both unique in their own ways, but the Bit Players have come to think of them as a single piece of art, so it made sense to look at them together like this for their first Tarantino flick.

Episode 58: Gattaca (1997)

The guys take to the skies once again, this time doing a little body switching to do so, with Andrew Niccol’s 1997 film Gattaca. The film takes a deep look at the implications of genetic discrimination and eugenics as a whole, with the film’s central character serving as a representation of overcoming one’s “natural” standing in life to achieve something greater, but the guys discuss whether or not this is actually an empowering film or not. They also talk about whose body they would take over in order to fulfill a lifelong dream like Vincent’s of going to space.
