Yo, anyone! This week, The Bit Players discuss Rocky, the iconic 1976 picture that put Sylvester Stallone on the map as a screenwriter and actor. The film depicts a down-and-out Philadelphian boxer with the coolest strut in town and the coolest a cappella trashcan gang singing his hymns as he gets a lucky shot at putting down the cigarettes and beer bottles for a second and taking on the world champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). What's most resonant in this rewatch, boxing aside, is how the film gets down to some basic relatable human truths in all of its characters. Whether we want to admit it or not, there's a little Rocky inside all of us. The guys explore that further as they describe their own boxing personas and their retirement plans when their brains have turned to mush.
