Midnight Showing: Spectre (2015)

The latest installment of Midnight Showing sees the guys head to the cinema to check out the newest film in the 007 franchise, the Sam Mendes-directed Spectre. In what is possibly Daniel Craig’s final foray in the immaculately-tailored suit of James Bond, we get what we usually would be craving: an origin story. However, when it comes to Bond, less may be more. Or, really, more may be more. More pure evil, more world-destroying weapons, more senseless beddings. Less petty personal Blofeld problems. Despite that, we’ll all forget the plot to the film in six months and be munching popcorn once again watching it together.

Episode 24: Casino Royale (2006)

Get the Aston Martin gassed up for this week’s episode on Casino Royale, the Bit Players’ (and Daniel Craig’s) first James Bond film, directed by Martin Campbell. They discuss the film’s placement in the overall 007 canon, as well as where Craig himself rates among the Sean Connerys, Timothy Daltons, Roger Moores, and Pierce Brosnans of the world. Much is made of the infamously terrible torture scene orchestrated by ol’ bloody-eye Le Chiffre (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and the very real repercussions on Bond’s own double-ohs going forward in the franchise (perhaps even accounting for his questionable bedding techniques in subsequent films). The guys also give themselves their very own Bond girl names and describe their perfect Bond villain.
